So, my boss’ boss had a birthday. He’s really into running, so I thought what better way to celebrate a healthy lifestyle than a chocolate cake covered in delicious buttery icing. Not to mention a splash of colour and a sprinkling or two of sugar.

I have been trying to learn to make fondant figurines..they’re improving, but I still have a few issues with clothing. Perhaps I should focus on nude figurines instead. Not sure how popular the cakes would be at work if I did that.

Unfortunately in my rather large collection of icing tips I don’t have a ‘grass’ tip, what use is a ‘full’ set of icing tips if there are some missing? This meant a very large amount of piping “faux grass” – I ended covered in bright green sticky icing. Charming.

A Running Cake – the irony.

This was a fantastic surprise. It was an absolutely amazing cake and everyone I have shown the picture too can’t believe how likely I am to have such a wonderful team of people working with me. I was very very humbled and it honestly brought a tear to my eye to know people cared enough to make such a wonderful cake

The next time we are looking for money to fund a multi million dollar IT project I vote we have a cake stall…. or 3….
