Take two brand new home owners, an almost 100yr old house and add DIY. Pioneer House follows the trials and tribulations of Mystery DIY Man (aka The Duke) and Number Two as they cook, craft and build their way through home ownership.

The story began in 2010 when Mystery DIY Man and Number Two decided they should buy a house with ‘a nasty bathroom’ and ‘a liveable but nasty kitchen’. A few real estate agent, lawyer and bank visits later and the Duchy of Islington was purchased. Built in 1913 in Dunedin the Duchy is three bedroom bungalow filled with surprises.
